Katka & Jan’s World Tour 2009-2010

IF YOU WANT TO GET THE LATEST INFO ON OUR TRAVEL PLEASE CLICK HERE.

Well, it seems like the dream we have had for at least 10 years is about to come true. When I met Katka in 1996 and we both realized that the “thing” we had might stay for a longer time we also realized that traveling is something that we LOVE. For a few years, it was very hard to travel anywhere further than Slovakia due to budget but we already sensed that we wanted to explore this tiny planet that God created. As years passed and we were blessed with good job opportunities and savings skills which were patiently taught to us by our parents, we managed to save more than we thought. Then, in 2007, we realized that when this whole wonderful Dutch adventure is over, it would be great to make it happen.

So after we move back to Slovakia after 3 years and 4 months over living here in Amsterdam and enjoy our parents, close friends and families, we will head right out for the trip of our lives.

Sept 21st, 2009 we fly from Vienna, Austria to Bangkok, Thailand. In the following 5 weeks we plan to explore Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Borneo. We have made no plans at this point what so ever, since as my friends Constantijn put it “Jan, you need to learn how to let go”. So I will try to. Katka feels confident that all will be fine so that is already 50% of the team!

Then on Oct 28th, 2009 we fly from Singapore, Malaysia to Perth, Australia where we will reunite with our dear friend Dough Horak after almost 3 years. We booked a Wicked Camper for two weeks to check out Western Australia.

Nov 18th – 20th will be spent in Sydney, Australia. When we visited Australia in 2005 we spent wonderful 3 weeks on the east coast around Brisbane, but we never made it south to Sydney. So we hope to explore this beautiful city a bit.

Then we should be off to Christchurch, New Zealand where we pick up yet another Wicked Camper to explore both, South and North island of New Zealand. We hope that the 5 weeks we planned for it is going to be enough.

On Dec 23rd, 2009 we will fly from Auckland, NZ to Rarotonga, Cook Islands and we will spend the first Christmas of our lives away from our families and also alone … very exciting.

Dec 31st, 2009 we fly back to Auckland, NZ to spend the break of new year in plane to Samoa.

Jan 8th, 2010 we will fly from Samoa to Nadi, Fiji

On Jan 17th, 2010 we will fly yet one more time to Auckland, NZ just to board another plane, this time headed to Papeete, Tahiti, where we’ll stay till Jan 21st, 2010 on which date we fly to the last stop on our world tour, the Easter Island.

If we make it all the way there, we will do our utmost to enjoy it all for the next 9 days and then on Jan 29th, 2010 we will start our massive journey back home via Santiago De Chile, Chile -> São Paulo, Brazil -> Lisbon, Portugal -> London, UK and back to Vienna, Austria on Jan 31st, 2010; just in time for my Dad’s 61st birthday!

We will do our best to keep this blog up to date not only for the sake of our families and friends but also as a lasting memory that we will be hopefully going back to in the years to come to be reminded how blessed we have been that we could have gone through such a wonderful adventure. Until then …

  10. Fantastic journey!! I told you in Rapa Nui I envy you doing those beautiful journeys for months. Good travelers!. We had also a good end in Atacama, Pto.Montt and Valparaiso, where we felt a little earthquake (the announcement of that big one they just suffered), so only three weeks and now back to work. All the best for you and your wife.
